LDM has a genuine understanding of the hot forgers precise needs. Therefore we can offer a range of extruded, extruded and straightened, or extruded, drawn and straightened brass rod each ideally suited to a particular application. The rods are produced from continuously cast brass billets and have the correct balance of copper, zinc, and lead for ready response to working at elevated temperatures. The hot forging industry uses these properties to produce complex components for many applications amongst others in the water and gas industries. The inclusion of lead in the most used alloys enables the alloy to retain its free machining properties after forming to enable precise machining to final dimensions. A uniform grain structure is vital for the reproducibility of metal flow and this property is assured by the use of the latest casting and extrusion technology.
Great care is taken to make sure all LDM rod is of the precise length, size, tolerance and straightness required, ensuring that a consistent weight of billet is cut for perfect results from the hot forging process. LDM offers a wide range of hot forging alloys, which can be supplied as solid rod or cut into sections. Of course all alloys meet European and other international standards.
